The City of Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill two Regular Part-time Aquatics Positions at the Kettering Recreation Center (KRC). The ideal candidates will be experienced, staff-oriented aquatics enthusiasts.

Aquatics Operations Coordinator
The Aquatics Operations Coordinator  is responsible for the supervision of the day-to day-operations of the KRC main pool, spa and Adventure Reef Water Park under the general direction of the Aquatics Supervisor.

The Aquatic Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the staff to ensure safe operations in the main pool and water park; assisting with the recruitment, selection, orientation, training and development of staff. This position is also responsible for supervising management, lifeguard and water park staff to ensure day-to-day operations; developing and maintaining staff incentive/recognition programs to increase staff retention; informing the Aquatics Supervisor of any suggested policy changes, public opinions and/or suggestions. Additional responsibilities include coordinating staff in-services in conjunction with the full-time Aquatics Supervisor; communicating operational updates with all KRC staff; completing monthly reports; attending meetings as required; and maintaining an overall clean appearance within the department.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate will have an aquatic background with emphasis on staff-related items, possess strong organizational and written communication skills, will be self-motivated with strong leadership qualities and be a team player with strong initiative.  Must have an enthusiastic approach to management and enjoy working with people of all ages. Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certifications required. AFO or CPO certification preferred. Must be able to work early mornings, weeknights and weekends throughout the year.

Aquatics Maintenance Coordinator
The Aquatics Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the operations and physical maintenance of the mechanical and filtration systems of the pool, whirlpool and water park in conjunction with the Aquatics Supervisor and the Public Service Department.  Responsibilities also include cleanliness of pool facilities, to include water chemistry, pool decks, storage spaces and pump rooms and coordinating the seasonal opening and closing of the Adventure Reef Water Park.  This position coordinates the training of staff with the Aquatics Supervisor and the Aquatic Operations Coordinator, focusing on maintenance duties and responsibilities; maintains all maintenance-related paperwork and manuals as assigned by the Aquatics Supervisor; maintains inventory of equipment, tools and chemicals necessary to operate the facility safely and efficiently; and assists with the selection and recruitment of management staff as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have an extensive aquatic background, with emphasis in pool mechanics. Must hold current AFO or CPO, Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certifications. Must be able to work a variable schedule, including early mornings and weekends. Ability to work independently and prioritize without direct supervision.  Must possess solid organizational skills.

Pay range $16.70 to $22.16 per hour.  Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s related skills, knowledge and abilities.  Benefits include prorated sick leave, vacation leave and holiday pay.
