Family Preservation Coordinator - Senior Programs, Strongsville Recreation & Senior Department

Salary Range:  $48,396 - $79,096 per year

Position Summary
Reports to the Senior Center Services Coordinator with the primary responsibility of coordination, development and administration of outreach services and programs for senior and/or disabled residents, members and visitors of the Strongsville Community.  In addition, this position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Ehrnfelt Senior Center including light maintenance, room/event set-up and tear down, front desk operations, grant writing, Senior Wheels coordination and kitchen assistance as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities (not intended to be exclusive):

  1. Ability to research, plan, organize, develop and implement programs, activities, events and services that benefit and improve the quality of life for senior and disabled individuals.
  2. Ability to market all Senior Center activities including use of various technology, websites, social media, flyer creation and Senior Newsletter (The Silver Pen) to ensure all Senior Center offerings are properly advertised and distributed to various senior and disabled populations.
  3. Experience in working with outside social service agencies, home health, assisted living and other surrounding senior center groups.
  4. Ensure all work is accomplished in accordance within all required safety regulations/specifications.
  5. Maintain excellent public relations, by ensuring that inquiries made by the public are answered and completed in a prompt courteous manner.
  6. Ability to perform work during non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays as assigned.
  7. Available to work overtime (over 40 hrs/wk) as needed.All overtime worked will be at the approval of the Director of Recreation & Senior Services discretion.
  8. Work in a team environment with the ability to work with other staff members in a professional and courteous manner.

Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Senior Outreach programs and organizations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.
  • Maintain First-Aid and CPR training including use of an AED.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a two-way radio.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and professional skills.

               

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • College Degree preferred with concentration in Gerontology/Social Work a plus.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
