House Bill 28, which would eliminate replacement levies in Ohio for all political subdivisions, has had two hearings in the House Ways and Means Committee and an opponent hearing is scheduled for this week. OPRA will be proving written opponent testimony on the bill.
Click here to read the testimony.
This is the time when you should begin efforts to reach out to House members asking them to oppose this bill. The basic arguments against the bill are included in the testimony, however, it is important that you share with your legislator how this bill would impact your park district.
Of particular importance are contacts with members of the Ways and Means Committee. If your legislator is on the committee and listed below, please make as effort this week to reach out to express your concerns about the bill.
Republican: Chair Roemer, B., Vice Chair Thomas, D., Click, G.; Daniels, J.; Demetriou, S.; Lear, B.; Richardson, T.; Santucci, N.; Thomas, J.
Democratic: Ranking Minority Member Troy, D., Hall, D.; Rogers, E.; Sigrist, M.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can provide additional information.
