Region 1 Networking Event: Ruihley and Woodland Parks

      

Two exciting projects in the Village of Archbold both came to fruition solely because of donations from businesses, organizations, and citizens the last few years.  In 2020 the idea of a new splash pad in Archbold was presented.  Fundraising of almost $450,000, began in 2021 and community residents will finally get to enjoy the Ruihley Park Splash Pad this spring, after numerous struggles with the health department, manufacturer cost increases, and struggles to find qualified installers.

In 2022 a passionate group of individuals approached the park board with the idea of a disc golf course at Woodland Park.  Woodland Park is a 60 acre park in Archbold that is home to football and soccer programs, as well as an amazing playground, basketball courts, and sledding hill.  20 acres of heavily wooded area is also part of the park, which made for a very unique home to the Creaking Woods Disc Golf Course.  This project was also completed with all donations from the community.  The steering committee raised all necessary money, cleared paths, installed baskets, created an app, offered educational sessions, and continues to be active in maintaining and upgrading the course.

We will visit the Ruihley Park Splash Pad and then guests can enjoy a round of disc golf at Woodland Park.  Lunch will served family style from Brookview Farms Meats & BBQ.
